(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUN 07 - After almost 16 months marked by the pandemic, more precisely 15 months and 28 days, the plenary of the European Parliament will meet again in Strasbourg. The session that opens today in the hemicycle of the Alsatian city foresees a series of activities starting with the debate to be held tomorrow, followed by a resolution, on the EU digital Covid-19 certificate, a tool to facilitate travel in the European Union despite the virus and contribute to the economic recovery. The theme of the pandemic will also remain central to the vote to be held on the waiver of intellectual property rights for Covid-19 vaccines by the World Trade Organization (WTO).

On the subject of economics, MEPs will discuss together with the Council and the Commission the assessment on the Recovery andResilience plan and will vote on a resolution on the position of the EU Parliament on the matter. The Plenary will also adopt the mandate to negotiate with the Council the creation of a reserve fund to help EU countries counter the negative consequences of the UK's exit.

Among other activities, Parliament will discuss the European Union's reaction to the forced landing of the Ryanair flight to Misk and the arrest of the Belarusian journalist Protasevich with the High Representative for Foreign Policy Josef Borrell.
