Three 19-year-olds from Berlin are said to have stolen more than a million euros from unsuspecting seniors as fake police officers.
According to the police, the suspected teenagers were caught on Tuesday.
They came into custody.
The three men are said to have called older people.
They pretended to be police officers from the robbery department and warned of alleged break-ins, which is why cash, valuables and bank accounts are at risk.
This would have convinced a number of elderly people to entrust them with their valuables.
According to the police, other gang members are said to have collected money and valuables from the senior citizens and taken them abroad.
According to the police's findings so far, the damage caused amounts to more than one million euros.
Investigations against backers
On Tuesday, the police searched two apartments and confiscated evidence as part of the investigation, it said.
The investigation into gang and commercial fraud continued.
They should also be directed against other suspects and backers.
The police also announced that real police officers never come to visit to bring money or valuables to safety or to have them shown to them.
