New mini-job regulation for short-time work since 2021

Due to the corona pandemic, the legislature has gradually passed new regulations.

At the beginning of 2020, a mini-job was only counted as deducted from short-time work benefits

  • the 450-euro mini job or short-term employment even before short-time work or

  • was exercised in a systemically important company.

The easing has been extended until December 31, 2021 for the time being.

to accept a mini job in addition to their main job

- even if they are on short-time work.

That is regulated by law.

“Every additional 450 euro mini-job is added to the main job.

This part-time job is then no longer a mini-job, even if the monthly income does not exceed 450 euros, ”reports the mini-job center on its website.

Any additional part-time job would then be considered an

employment subject to social security contributions

, for which additional taxes, such as health insurance contributions, would be incurred.
