The turmoil has not yet subsided on the feasibility or necessity of vaccinating teens against corona and Pfizer announced yesterday that they will begin testing the company's corona vaccine in a larger group of children under 12. The company plans to try to vaccinate children at a lower dose of the injection early in the trial.

Up to 4,500 children from more than 90 clinical sites in the United States, Finland, Poland and Spain will participate in the study.

The Reuters news agency reported that Pfizer has announced that based on the safety, resistance and immune response generated by 144 children in the first phase of the double vaccine for corona, it will test a reduced dose of 10 micrograms in children aged 5 to 11, and 3 micrograms for the age group of 6 Months to 5 years.

A Pfizer spokesman said the company expects data from September 5 to 11 and will likely ask regulators for approval for emergency use later that month.

Data on children ages 2 to 5 may arrive shortly thereafter, he said.

Vaccinating children and young people is considered a critical step on the road to "herd immunity" and eradication of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Still, scientists in the United States and elsewhere, including Israel, are examining the possibility of linking heart inflammation to mRNA vaccines, especially in young men.

In fact, the Israeli Ministry of Health announced last week that it had found that the small number of cases of myocarditis occurred mainly among young men who had received the Pfizer vaccine and were probably related to the vaccine.

Experts have found that in 16-19 year olds the bond is stronger.

In addition, they concluded that the relationship weakens with increasing age, when in most cases it is a mild illness that passes within a few days.

Pfizer announced that it is aware of the Israeli announcement about the heart muscle and that no causal link has been found for the vaccine.
