Return to normal life: "Our brain needs time to get used to deconfinement"

2021-06-10T16:58:51.527Z

For some, the return to normal life is not so easy. And this is classic according to Marilyne Baranes, doctor in clinical psychology.

His patients confide in him their anxieties.

Marilyne Baranes has a doctorate in clinical psychology and psychopathology at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris (13th century).

While the deconfinement begins, it delivers a plea for the time, which we force a little too much, whereas it is necessary for our rehabilitation.

Since this Wednesday, life almost normal resumes.

Is it a “party” for everyone?

MARILYNE BARANES.

No, recovery is not equal for everyone.

For some it will be more difficult than for others.

Many said to themselves “V

ively tomorrow,

but

tomorrow

can

bring

us face to face with fears of which we were not necessarily aware.

For example ?

Already, to catch the Covid.

We almost forgot it, but the virus is still there, and going out again makes us face it again.

We look at the behavior of others, we wonder if so-and-so is vaccinated.

Our mind is not 100% at ease.

Then there is our relationship to time.

Our brains have taken a lot to adjust to the sudden and brutal restrictions imposed on it.

He had to integrate the deprivation of liberty, the justification of travel, the exits under control.

Today, for him, that has been taken for granted.

It will therefore need the same time to get used to deconfinement.

We have to relearn everything: freedom, to get out of the house which has established itself as a place of refuge, of security, or even to regain our carelessness.

The noise anxiety comes back repeatedly, why?

It should be understood that the notion of recklessness is directly linked to that of trauma.

The phobia of noise, in the light of this deconfinement, is to be compared with a deeper anxiety.

Noise is people, people are Covid, fear of dying or of seeing loved ones die.

We have to accept to break our bubble, to confront each other again.

Perhaps we need to see noise in a more positive way, to think that it is an integral part of reliving.

Our body also had a toast, low back pain, dental pain, eye pain ...

Or the weight gain, with several kilos per French!

The body was put to the test, as if rusted.

There were also more manifestations of eczema, psoriasis, more dizziness… These are somatic manifestations of our anxieties.

Taking them seriously is essential because they cause very real pathologies.

Now, the time has come to get the machine running again.

What advice would you give?

For the body, to resume a healthy lifestyle, and slowly physical activity. For the rest, it is a question of reconnecting with lightness. Our brains need time to ensure that peaceful life can resume. You have to allow yourself this time and not get angry if you stumble. The requests will be numerous, sometimes too much. You should not force yourself but listen to yourself, trust yourself. Tell yourself something: there is no possible catching up, the Covid got us off the train, we will not catch up at full speed. Too bad, you have to go up to the next station, taking advantage, that's the most important!
