The five-year-old survivor of the gondola accident on Monte Mottarone, Italy, has been released from hospital.

The clinic in Turin announced.

The five-year-old boy's condition has improved significantly.

He will continue to be looked after psychologically.

An ambulance, accompanied by his aunt, brought the boy home near Milan, according to the hospital.

On May 23, Pentecost Sunday, the boy was the only one who survived the cable car accident west of Lake Maggiore.

He was seriously injured.

A total of 14 people were killed in the accident.

The boy lost his parents, brother and great-grandparents.

The gondola crashed because the cable of the railway broke for an unexplained cause and the emergency brakes did not work on the suspension cable because they had been blocked beforehand.

The cabin fell downhill and finally crashed on a wooded slope.

According to the investigation, the emergency brakes were blocked because they had previously caused disruptions in rail operations.

A technical manager is currently under domestic arrest.

The cable car boss and another technical manager were released, which had caused criticism.

According to media reports, the public prosecutor wanted the investigating judge to examine this decision.

According to the Italian news agency Ansa, the three suspects will be summoned next Monday in relation to the investigation.
