Coronavirus in Argentina: 27,628 new cases and another 669 deaths confirmed in the last 24 hours

It was reported by the Ministry of Health this Thursday. There are 7,817 patients with covid-19 in intensive care and the occupation of beds nationwide is 79.1%.

of covid-19, the Government confirmed this Thursday

27,628 new cases

and another

669 deaths

from coronavirus in Argentina.

The data comes from the daily report on the health situation published this afternoon by the Ministry of Health.

It was prepared with the figures that the provinces uploaded to the national system in the last 24 hours.

Deaths are at the

highest daily average

since the beginning of the pandemic and reached a total of

83,941

, making the country

12th

among those with the most fatalities.

The Province of Buenos Aires was the one that reported the most deaths (361), followed by the City of Buenos Aires (54), Córdoba (40), Santa Fe (26), Mendoza (26), Catamarca (24), Entre Ríos ( 23), Tucumán (20) and Río Negro (20).

After two days of decline, the number of coronavirus patients in intensive care increased again: currently there are

7,817

, just 10 less than the peak of 7,827 registered on Monday.

The occupancy of critical beds due to all pathologies fell slightly to 

79.1%

at the national level (yesterday it had set a record of 79.3%), while in the AMBA it is at 

76.7%

(on Wednesday, 77.2% ).

With more than

4,066,156 infections detected,

 Argentina remains the

ninth country

with the highest number of infected since the start of the health crisis.

The cases of the day

According to the official report, in the last 24 hours 101,907 tests were uploaded to the national system, with a positivity rate of

27%

.

It is almost three times what the WHO recommends.

Like yesterday, Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Santa Fe were the provinces that confirmed the most positive cases in the last 24 hours.

Between the three, they reported almost 60% of the new infected.

The two countries that exceed that rate - and by far - are India and Brazil.

In fourth place is Colombia, followed by the United States.

When looking at the incidence with respect to the population, the country is fifth globally, with

589 infected daily per million

inhabitants.

The four that exceed it (Seychelles, Uruguay, Maldives and Bahrain) have less than 4 million inhabitants, so their rates soared more before the new outbreak.

The death data are worrying as they are on the rise.

In the last week -between Friday 4 and this Thursday-

It is the highest average of fatal cases registered by the country due to covid-19 and marks a growth of

12%

in June. 

The Argentine daily rate is the

third highest

globally.

In this case it is also surpassed by India and Brazil, which are around 2,600 and 1,600, respectively.

Vaccines

This Thursday began the distribution to the provinces of the last shipment received from Sputnik V. It is a total of 482,400 doses, of which

400,200 are component 2

, with which the Russian vaccine scheme is completed.

In turn, Minister Carla Vizzotti announced that another

900,000 doses of AstraZeneca

will arrive on Monday

from the joint production contract with Mexico.

In Argentina, more than 15 million vaccines against the coronavirus have been applied since the beginning of the pandemic.

of people between 55 and 59 years old have already received the first dose;

while in the range from 50 to 54 it is

45.3%

.

Meanwhile, immunization reached one in three people (

33%

) between 45 and 49 years old, according to official data.

As for those over 60 years of age,

84.3% have

already received at least one dose.

When broken down by age group, 85.7% of people between 60 and 69 years old are in the same situation, which is replicated in 87.9% and 79.4% in those between 70 and 79 years old and 80 years or more, respectively.

According to the Public Vaccination Monitor, as of Thursday morning 17,895,790 doses had been sent to the provinces and 15,353,408

had been applied

A total of 12,202,881 received the first injection and among them,
