The Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) is positioning itself for the coming school year: According to their wishes, schools will no longer be closed for months like this year in the coming school year.
The ministers of the federal states agreed on a video link on Thursday that all schools after the summer vacation should be visited “permanently in regular operation with all school subjects and lessons”.
This emerges from a resolution that has been submitted to the German Press Agency.
Regular operation therefore means that lessons in the school are given without further restrictions and that school life is made possible again.
Even out-of-school offers, such as school trips, would be "fully" possible again, the KMK promises, regardless of the warnings of some experts about a possible fourth wave of infections.
"We will all fight for permanent regular operation and the avoidance of further school closings," said ministers.
School operations are expressly not to be linked to whether pupils are vaccinated or not.

The KMK does not rule out a possible mask requirement in schools in the new school year.
In principle, the use of means to contain the pandemic, such as tests and masks, must continue to be considered, as further developments are unclear.
"But even a mask requirement is still absolutely preferable to a new school closure," said one participant in the deliberations.
Some countries have only just eased the mask requirement.
