Several KN95 respirators have to be recalled by the manufacturers - due to insufficient filter performance.
Munich - masks have become an integral part of everyday life since the beginning of the corona pandemic.
Your goal is clearly defined: to protect yourself and others from infection, be it corona or other diseases.
It therefore becomes problematic if the filter performance of the masks does not have the desired quality.
This is what happened with several respiratory protection masks of the type KN95.
Therefore, several manufacturers now have to recall their masks.
Masks: health risk according to the Rapex rapid alert system:
As
Produktwarnung.eu
reports, the
Rapex rapid warning system of
the European Union has
published
warnings
for the following masks
: "Everise" KN95 breathing mask type WSX-KN-1, "Respirator" KN95 breathing mask, "MDWayson" KN95 breathing mask type MD-PM001 , "Mask" KN95 respirator type AP-83001, "TRN MedTesks Face Mask" KN95 respirator mask type NRFM002, "Friend Ji" KN95 respirator mask, FFP2 mask CY2020-KZ002 and "YWSH" KN95 respirator mask type SH-ZH12.
For all affected products, the risk type has been classified as a "health risk".
Masks with poor filter performance: Rapex rapid warning system warns
Specifically, the
Rapex rapid
warning system warns of
insufficient
particle / filter retention and invalid CE markings for the masks listed. Means: The product bears a CE mark, but its filter performance has not been tested by a competent European conformity assessment body. In addition, with some masks, the mask shape does not adapt correctly to the face of the user. This means that excessive amounts of particles or microorganisms can pass through the mask and endanger the health of those affected.
As
Produktwarnung.eu
explains, KN95 respirators must have a special approval or a quick test from an approved test center in Germany.
In addition, the masks may only be sold or given away with the approval of the market surveillance authorities.
As it turned out, authorities in Germany have issued masks with invalid or falsified CE markings.
The prerequisite for this was a successful quick test of the masks.
Mask: Have the required documents shown to you
So how do I play it safe when buying a mask when it comes to quality?
When buying a mask, you should be shown the necessary documents.
If this does not happen, the sale is not permitted.
In this case,
produktwarnung.eu
strongly
advises
against
using the masks.
Another no-go for self-protection against the coronavirus are respiratory masks that do not have any proof of the manufacturer or model printed on them.
