(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUN 11 - Green light from the EU Council to the definitive agreement with the United Kingdom on fisheries for 2021 and, for deep-sea stocks, also for 2022. On 2 June the parties had reached an agreement in principle.
The agreement is the result of consultations over the past 5 months and establishes, among other things, the total allowable fishing for 75 fish stocks, and provides clarity on the limits for off-quota species.
"The agreement guarantees stability to UK and EU fishermen, while at the same time ensuring sustainable management of marine resources", and "paves the way for future consultations on fishing rights", explains the EU. (HANDLE).
