Amazon's turn to break into the dissemination of French football.
The American giant will share the TV rights with Canal + until 2024 for an annual amount of 663 million euros, AFP learned from a source close to the deliberations.
According to the distribution adopted Friday by the Board of Directors of the Professional Football League (LFP), Canal + will pay 332 million euros each season over the period 2021-2024.
Amazon will drop 250 million euros as well as an extension to share the rights to Ligue 2 with beIN Sports.
In total, professional clubs will receive half of what they should have obtained at the time of Mediapro's eruption (nearly 1.2 billion euros).
The Sino-Spanish broadcaster, a new entrant on the French market, has not reached the end of its first financial year.
The broadcaster had not gathered enough subscribers and the rights had been transferred urgently to Canal + after several days without broadcasters.
