G7: Johnson, 500 million for girls' education

The first announcement by the British presidency on the sidelines of the inaugural session of the G7 Summit in Cornwall is dedicated to supporting the schooling of children in poor countries of the world, in particular of the "most vulnerable girls". (ANSA)


(ANSA) - CARBIS BAY, 11 JUN - The first announcement of the British presidency on the sidelines of the inaugural session of the G7 summit in Cornwall on recovery. Premier Boris Johnson has put on the plate 430 million lines of new ad hoc funds from the UK (over 500 million euros), appealing to other leaders to follow London's example.


    The initiative is intended to increase support for the Global Partnership for Education project, towards which Italy has already recently allocated 25 million euros and the EU as a whole 700 million. Further commitments are expected now from the Carbis Bay Summit, with a subsequent major increase in resources that is expected to be announced at the Global Education Summit on 28 and 29 July in London.
