Prime Minister Mario Draghi is in Cornwall, where the G7 will officially open at 3pm.

Before taking part in the work of the G7 Draghi will have a coordination meeting with EU leaders

In the afternoon he will then be "lead speaker" in the first session dedicated to the themes of economic recovery, entitled: "Building Back Better - Recovery for All".
The session will focus on three themes: national policies towards a greener and digital recovery;
the role of the G7 in supporting the recovery of the global economy;
policies aimed at advancing gender equality.

on the sidelines of the G7.
An intense program, spread over three days of work

The summit of the heads of state and government of the British G7 presidency in Carbis Bay, Cornwall, debuts today at 14 local, 15 in Italy, with the classic welcome ceremony for the guests by the host, the prime minister Boris Johnson, followed by the no less traditional ritual photo. Tomorrow a full day with three sessions starting at 10 local (11 in Italy) and always focused on the reconstruction after Covid but from the point of view of flexibility, foreign policy and health, which will be followed by a formal dinner. And finally, Sunday morning, a double session on the themes of open society and free trade and then (again introduced by Draghi) on the climate and a new green policy. The final press conferences are scheduled in the early afternoon of the same day on Sunday.
The last two sessions will also see the presence of guest leaders from Australia, South Korea, India and South Africa, as well as the UN secretary general, Antonio Guterres, admitted to work from tomorrow afternoon. Meanwhile, the arrivals of the European leaders were completed this morning: in order the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the French President Emmanuel Macron, all accompanied by their respective spouses, as well as Mario Draghi. Last night Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga landed in Cornwall. While American President Joe Biden had already arrived on Wednesday evening.
