(ANSA) - LONDON, JUN 11 - Seven people were stopped by the British police as they tried to reach CarbisBay, in Cornwall, home to the summit of G7 leaders today, aboard two vehicles in which tear gas, paint and firecrackers were found deafening.
The arrests took place yesterday afternoon near Hayle, a dozen kilometers from Carbis Bay, during a check at a checkpoint, but were only disclosed by the Devon and Cornwall Police today. Those arrested are men and women between the ages of 30 and 21, except for a 45-year-old: five residents in London, one in Wales and one in Bournemouth (England). "We continue to secure places to protest and demonstrate (against the G7) in a safe and legal way, but we will not tolerate riots or criminal activities," a local police spokesman warned.
