ALESSANDRIA - From the approach to Divisionism to the Futurist experience, from the metaphysical parenthesis to the return to the figurative tradition up to the landscapes painted in many places of the peninsula: through 44 works, including oils, drawings and etchings, all the phases of the artistic research of Carlo Carrà, the undisputed protagonist of the avant-garde of the twentieth century, in the exhibition "Carrà 140", promoted by the Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation and set up until 3 October in the Picture Gallery of the Broletto in Palatium Vetus in Alessandria.

Designed to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the artist's birth (born in Quargnento in 1881 and died in Milan in 1966), the exhibition - curated by Fulvio Cervini, Maria Luisa Caffarelli and Rino Tacchella - is organized by the investee company Palazzo del Governatore srl and presents works to the public (including some unpublished, painted from 1898 to 1965) from the Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation and from private Alexandrian collections, thanks to which it is possible to comprehensively reconstruct the expressive path of Carrà. Among the canvases on display are the collage "Lacerba and bottle" of 1914, an iconic work of the exhibition that Carrà painted on his return from Paris after having known the cubism of Picasso and Braque, the "Great frieze with dancing cherubs", dating back to the first decade '900, "Punta della dogana "from 1948, the first painting purchased by the Foundation in 2004, as well as a series of engravings, never exhibited and various landscapes, made in Versilia, Venice, Florence and Umbria.
