2021-06-15T11:32:49.552Z

The 60th edition of the event begins this Monday in the presence of the public. Selection of the most anticipated productions

After an online edition last year due to a pandemic, the Annecy Animation Film Festival (Haute-Savoie), the largest event of its kind in the world with a film market, begins this Monday in the presence of the public.

The Festival, which is celebrating its 60th birthday, will also offer many events around this anniversary, and we will be able to enjoy it with dozens of films screened.

Here are the most anticipated ...

"Josée, the tiger and the fish"

For its opening film, Annecy has chosen a magnificent Japanese adolescent melody… which pays homage to France. Because her heroine, Kumiko, is a fan of Françoise Sagan, and was renamed "Josée" in honor of one of the characters of the novelist. Paraplegic, Josée refuses to leave her room, seemingly grinding black, when in reality, fascinated by the underwater world, she spends her time drawing fish. A turning point occurs when his grandmother hires a young man - passionate about diving - to help her take care of Josée: initially reluctant to the idea, the teenager will get closer to the boy, especially after the boy. - here, victim of an accident, also finds herself in a wheelchair ... Chronicle in love with shattered bodies and broken souls, "Josée, the tiger and the fish", which never sinks in the dark, enchants both by its scenario and its graphics.

Released June 16.

"The Wolf People"

It is the most beautiful animated film of the last three years!

Signed by the Irishman Tomm Moore, already responsible for two masterpieces, "Brendan and the secret of Kells" and "The Song of the Sea", "The Wolf People", nominated at the last Oscars, shifted many times since one year because of the pandemic and shown this Monday at the festival, tells the fate of a little girl who turns into a wolf every night ... A very strong film with absolutely sumptuous graphics.

Released on October 20.

"Spirit the Indomitable"

The event screening, one of the most anticipated lakeside premieres, will take place this Tuesday: DreamWorks unveils the sequel to “Spirit, the Plains Stallion”, which will be released this summer.

We find the thoroughbred hero of the original film there, and it is a celebration for the studio because it was in 2002 one of its first animated feature films which contributed to its fame.

Released July 28.

"Luca"

It's the Pixar of the summer, but it will not be released in theaters because it will be launched directly on Disney + this Friday 18. Big advantage of Annecy: this charming story of sea monster children who turn into humans in a village of Cinque Terre in Italy will be screened several times in the open sea.

Released June 18 on Disney +.

"Crossing"

Added at the last moment to the list of feature films in competition, signed by the Frenchwoman Florence Miailhe on a screenplay co-written with Marie Desplechin, "La Traversée" follows the dangerous journey of two migrant children who fled their country at war for a world full of promises.

The first images of the film, for which the release date is not yet known, hint at a daring and magnificent mix of several animation techniques.
