According to the police, an emergency in a Cologne hotspot area has resulted in attacks on rescue workers and officials as well as false reports.
On Saturday evening, a 59-year-old man died in front of the entrance to the Cologne-Chorweiler City Center, the police said, for reasons that have not yet been clarified.
According to initial findings, there were attacks by relatives on the rescue service personnel and called police officers during the rescue operation.
"By using more than 20 patrol cars, the situation on site was calmed down," it said.
It is currently being determined why the man died.
While the operation was still going on, the police reported via Twitter that it was an "internal emergency".
"Any other news that is circulating is wrong," it said.
Apparently reports were circulating beforehand that there was a killing spree.
