The Higher Education Council issued a decision specifying the obligations of all students enrolled in the postgraduate studies and in the degree of diploma or master's degree in qualification and specialization and educational qualification diploma.

According to the decision, which SANA received a copy of today, students are obligated to achieve the percentage of attendance and follow-up studies in accordance with the provisions of Article 156 of the Executive Regulations of Law No. 6 of 2006 on the Organization of Universities and the Regulations for Postgraduate Studies, Qualification, Specialization, and Educational Qualification Diploma, with continuous communication with the scientific supervisor on the graduation project or master’s thesis or PhD and adherence to his instructions and observations.

Students are also obligated to teach the equivalent of 4 practical or applied hours per week as decided by the college or institute council, with a commitment to the schedule of examination observations and to conduct the required (seminar) during the period of completion of the graduation project or master’s or doctoral thesis, in addition to attending activities, scientific meetings, discussions, and scheduled seminars.

The above-mentioned decision applies to all students registered (starting from or after the date of issuance of this decision) for master’s or doctoral theses, and for those whose research has not been registered for the legal period prescribed in the executive regulations of the Universities Organizing Law (less than a year for master’s students and less than two years for students PhD).

Old students registered for master’s or doctoral theses before the issuance of the Higher Education Council’s decision 392 dated 7/27/2017 are granted a maximum period of six months, starting from the date of this decision, in order to regularize their situation in accordance with the laws and regulations in force.

According to the decision, a successful master's student at the postgraduate level in the year of courses before or after the date of this decision is granted a maximum period of six months in order to complete the registration procedures for the master's thesis, otherwise he loses his right to register.
