(ANSA) - TEL AVIV, June 13 - The Knesset is convened at 16 local time (15 in Italy) for the vote of confidence in the new government of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, the first, for over 12 years, without Benyamin Netanyahu.

If there are no surprises - given that the current coalition has 61 out of 120 seats - Bennett is on the verge of becoming Israel's 13th prime minister in the 36th government of the country.

The majority is made up of 8 very different parties among them: 3 on the right - Yamina (Bennett), Israel Casa Nostra (Lieberman) and New Hope (Saar); 2 center - C'e 'futuro (Lapid), Blue White (Gantz); 2 on the left - Labor (Micaheli) and Meretz (Horowitz); and Raam (Abbas), an Arab-Islamist formation, for the first time in power.

If the government gets the majority to vote now on paper, the swearing-in ceremony will follow. Bennett will be premier until 27 August 2023 and then leave the command relay to Lapid. (HANDLE).
