(ANSA) - NEW DELHI, June 14 - Various Indian states have loosened the restrictions dictated by the coronavirus from today: the capital Delhi, which yesterday counted only 131 new cases, would reopen shops and shopping centers after two months of closure. Governor Kejriwal announced this yesterday in a televised message, adding that restaurants will also be able to serve restaurants, but at 50 percent of their capacity. In order not to risk a total opening, however, in the Indian capital all schools of all levels, cinemas and theaters, gyms and swimming pools, fitness centers, function rooms and gardens and public parks will be closed until June 21st.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, the country has reported 70,421 new cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest figure since last March 31, thus confirming the downward trend of the second wave.

Infections in May peaked at 400,000 new cases per day. Even in the hardest-hit states in the south of the country, such as Tamil Nadu and Kerala, companies have been allowed to readmit 50 percent of employees while they will reopen bars and alcohol sales. In Tamil Nadu, however, public transport services are suspended until June 21st. (HANDLE).
