Families with low incomes will receive a so-called children's leisure bonus of 100 euros per child from August.
What the money in the corona crisis is for.
On June 11, the Bundestag passed the so-called
children's leisure
bonus.
This means:
families with low incomes
will receive an
extra payment of 100 euros per child
from the state
from August
.
This "leisure bonus" is part of the "
Corona catch-up program *
" with which the federal and state governments want to mitigate the long-term consequences of the long restrictions in education and leisure for children and young people.
The program is worth two billion euros.
Private tuition, school social work, holiday camps and more positions in the voluntary social year are also funded, as the German Press Agency (dpa) also reported.
Hartz IV: 100 euros “children's leisure bonus” for families - paid out from August
According to the dpa, the 100 euros can be spent
on holiday, sport or leisure activities
- “depending on your mood,” said Family Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD).
The payment goes to
families who are dependent on Hartz IV, who are entitled to housing benefit or child allowance
or
who
receive
benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act
.
The bill assumes around 2.7 million children.
According to the Family Ministry, the 100 euros will be paid out “from August”
, as dpa wrote.
Most families would
not have to submit a separate application for this

Measures to relieve families in the corona crisis
Previously, there had been a child bonus for families and a corona surcharge for those families with little income.
The
extra payment
now decided by the Bundestag
(the aforementioned children's
leisure bonus
) of 100 euros per child for families with low incomes
is also
intended
as a measure to
relieve the corona crisis
.
Because many children and young people in particular were and are severely affected by the social consequences of the crisis.
However, representatives of social organizations consider such a one-off payment of 100 euros per child to be insufficient.
