The Dresden Regional Court has "not the slightest doubt" that the two men are racing in their cars in the direction of Dresden city center: The criminal chamber has sentenced a 32-year-old and a 24-year-old to imprisonment for a prohibited car race resulting in death.
The main culprit, who hit the boy with his car, has been sentenced to jail for three years and nine months.
The 24-year-old driver of the second car received a two-year prison sentence - suspended.
The two men had driven the race on August 22, 2020 on a multi-lane road.
The six-year-old had used a path in the grass verge of the road to get home.
After the older convict's car hit the boy, he was thrown a good 20 meters through the air and into a bus stop.
The child died at the scene of the accident.
Frenzy and illegal street races have been considered a criminal offense in Germany since 2017 and no longer a regulatory offense.
According to the penal code, this is punishable by a fine or up to two years in prison - and up to ten years if someone is seriously injured or killed.
The driver of the car had caught the boy at a speed of at least 89 km / h.
According to the investigations of the public prosecutor's office, the accident would have been avoidable if the man had kept the maximum speed of 50 km / h.
According to the broadcaster MDR, the 24-year-old spoke in court of the biggest mistake of his life.
He wanted to "take full responsibility" for this, but was therefore denying a prearranged race.
The driver who caught the boy also competed in a prearranged race through his lawyer.
Recently, a case from Berlin had made headlines again and again.
After a driver competed there with another man in 2016 and a pensioner died in the process, a speedster was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.
The Federal Court of Justice confirmed this guilty verdict in summer 2020.
