Do you fancy pizza - or do you prefer a barbecue?

Combine both and simply grill your pizza on the next barbecue evening.

That's how it's done.

Summer just lures you outside.

How often have you grilled this year?

And what do you typically end up on the grill?

Steaks, sausages, grilled cheese or corn on the cob *?

We bet you haven't cooked one dish on the grill - namely

pizza

.

It works

without an oven, without a pizza stone

and pretty quickly on top of that.

Aside from the pizza dough, it takes some preparation.

But you only need four minutes to grill the pizzas (the recipe makes 5-6 mini pizzas)!

First the dough cakes are grilled hot on one side, then turned, topped and baked.

If you have a grill with a lid, all the better, the cheese melts even better, but it is not absolutely necessary.

This ingenious

recipe for grilled pizza is

feasible for everyone - whether it's a small table grill on the balcony or a fully equipped professional grill on the terrace.

Grilling pizza: preparation on the grill

  • Crumble the yeast in the lukewarm water, add the sugar and dissolve everything while stirring.

  • Mix the flour and salt in a bowl and gradually knead the yeast water with the flour.

Add the olive oil and knead it in as well.

Knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is elastic and pliable.

  • Cover and let the yeast dough rise for about 30 minutes until it has doubled in volume.

  • Then divide the dough into 5-6 portions and roll them out thinly on a floured work surface or carefully pull the dough into a thin circle with your hands.

  • Season the diced or chunky tomatoes with salt, pepper, basil leaves and olive oil.

    Squeeze the clove of garlic.

    Tear up the mozzarella.

  • Now it's time to grill,

the grill has to be ready and hot

    !

Place the dough cakes (one after the other if necessary, depending on the size of the grill) on the lightly oiled grillage.

Bake for about 2 minutes (with the lid closed if necessary) until the dough starts to bubble.

  • Turn the dough over and top it with mozzarella and the prepared tomatoes.

    If you have a lid, close it now and continue grilling the pizzas;

until the cheese has melted, it takes 2-3 minutes.

  • Then you can take the pizza off the grill again, garnish with other fresh herbs if you like and serve hot.

  • Every grill is different

Always check the color and firmness of the dough base while grilling, as

    each grill

    develops

    a different heat

    .

If the pizza crust burns too quickly from below, reduce the heat or raise the rack further.

If you don't want to do without a classic tomato sauce on pizza, you can also prepare this and use it to coat the turned dough before the topping of your choice is put on.

    Chopped

    vegetables or sausage

    also taste good as ingredients

    - but do not overload the pizzas, the ingredients may have to cook and it will be more difficult to get the pizza off the grill without any losses.
