(ANSA) - ROME, JUNE 14 - A Pekingese named Wasabi is the most beautiful dog in the United States according to the judges of the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club competition. A greyhound named Bourbon has placed himself behind the three-year-old dog.
"He's talented, he fits perfectly with the breed standard and then he has that extra something, that brilliance, that distinguishes a dog," one of the owners, David Fitzpatrick, told CBS, who will give his Pekingese a fillet for dinner as a prize for the victory. Another co-owner of the dog died of Covid-19 last year.
Wasabi, whose name derives from his mother Sushi, has infinitely beaten the French bulldog Mathew, the English sheepdog Connor, the German pointer Jade and Bourbon. In total 2,500 dogs participated.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic this year, the US's most prestigious canine event was held outdoors instead of Madison Square Garden, and was moved from February to June. (HANDLE).
