In the case of the five children killed in Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, the murder trial against their mother has begun in the Wuppertal district court.
The 27-year-old at the time of the crime had to answer for five cases of insidious killing.
The public prosecutor's office accuses the mother of six of suffocating or strangling her five youngest children in her apartment on September 3, 2020.
At the beginning of the trial, the defendant was silent.
You will testify neither on the matter nor on her person, said her defense lawyers.
First of all, she is said to have mixed drugs into the breakfast drinks for her three daughters and two sons and thus made them sleepy.
Then she killed the children one by one in the bathtub, according to the prosecution.
For the trial before the jury chamber, eleven trial days are initially scheduled until mid-August.
The defendant is currently in custody.
The crime caused horror nationwide.
