"The obligation to wear a mask is canceled from Tuesday, June 15," announced the Ministry of Health in a statement.

The mask remains however de rigueur, he specifies, in hospitals, retirement homes, travelers on their way to isolation to follow quarantine and in flight.

Israel eased health restrictions for its residents in early June, but still maintains drastic measures for visitors arriving from abroad.

The Hebrew state remains closed to non-citizens, with the exception of those with exemptions for compelling professional or family reasons.

A fortnight, which can however end as soon as the result of a serological test proving vaccination or sufficient immunity, is imposed on any traveler arriving in the country.

Massive vaccination

Israel launched a vast vaccination campaign at the end of December thanks to an agreement with the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer which delivered millions of doses in exchange for data on the effects of vaccination in this country which has medical databases. digitized on its population.

More than five of 9.3 million Israelis (55% of the population) received both doses of the vaccine.

More than 839,000 people have been infected in Israel since the start of the pandemic, only three of them in the past 24 hours, and 6,428 have died, according to figures from the Ministry of Health.

Currently, 205 Israelis are sick, 53 of whom are hospitalized.
