"After Rigoletto and La Traviata, with Il Trovatore I complete my journey in Verdi's popular trilogy together with the Opera di Roma, all made during the period of the pandemic, and strongly characterized by the needs imposed by our time - said Maestro Gatti - I have directed Il Trovatore only one more time, at the Salzburg Festival in 2014. With pleasure, therefore, I approach again one of the most musically inspired opera of the central production of Giuseppe Verdi, and which for this reason is also among the most loved part of the audience ". In the director's vision, everything is strictly black or white. "I chose to follow a metaphysical line, with an immaterial, dreamlike, mysterious atmosphere - explains Lorenzo Mariani - I rely on a constant of geometric, anti-naturalistic elements, starting from the proportions of the triangle, perfect for an opera in which Verdi is able to transform archetypes into living passion.
