The head of the largest family in the world and leader of a Christian religious sect that allows polygamy for men died in India leaving 38 wives, 89 children, 36 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The news was given by the governor of Mizoram, Zoramthanga, who on Twitter said he had "a sad heart" for the disappearance of Ziona Chana at the age of 76.

It is difficult to say if Chana was really the head of the largest family in the world as there are others who claim the title. And it is also impossible to establish exactly the number of components of his. There are those who speak of 39 wives and 94 children, for example. However, a total of around 180 people who often made headlines and appeared several times on the popular TV show 'Ripley's Believe it or Not'.

World record or not, Chana and her family are something of a local attraction, drawing tourists from all over the world to the village in northeastern India where the huge family lives in a four-story, 100-room house called ' Chuuar Than Run 'or' New Generation House '. The family belongs to a Christian sect, Chana Pawl, which was founded by Chana's grandfather in 1942 and has about 2,000 followers. The group allows polygamy to men. According to local media, the nearly forty wives of the deceased share a dormitory next to his room. His first spouse, three years his senior, met her when she was only 17 years old.

With heavy heart, #Mizoram bid farewell to Mr. Zion-a (76), believed to head the world's largest family, with 38 wives and 89 children.

Mizoram and his village at Baktawng Tlangnuam has become a major tourist attraction in the state because of the family.

Rest in Peace Sir!
