In Erfurt, an employee of an animal welfare organization found a woman who wanted to sell Lisztaffen.
Trade in the protected animals is strictly forbidden.
The criminal police stepped in and initiated a sham purchase.
When the three monkeys were to be handed over, the officers identified themselves and confiscated the animals, the police said.
The Kripo is now investigating the 44-year-old woman.
Their common marmosets were only taken away last week.
She had bred the animals in her apartment, but not kept them appropriately.
