The estimates emerge from the Demoskopika survey on behalf of the Municipality of Siena on tourist consumption by foreigners that ANSA publishes in preview.

In particular, to opt for the "traditional" accommodation offer, linked to the hotel and non-hotel sector, just over 7.2 million tourists with an estimated increase of 29.2% compared to the same period last year, that is from June to September 2020. On the opposite side, finally, a more than significant 44.6% has already given up on holidays. The reasons? Firstly, due to the fear of traveling (17.7%), a modality immediately followed by economic impossibility (14.6%) or having already given up, beyond the health emergency (12.2%). As for the identikit of the foreign tourist who will come to Italy, according to the survey, it is a manager or employee, aged between 36 and 64, with a medium-high qualification, preferably a graduate.Opt for a holiday preferably of a week, as a couple or with your family, preferably by the sea in August, not forgetting the mountains and cities of art in search of a period of relaxation surrounded by nature or discovering the cultural heritage of the Beautiful country. For the overnight stay, more than half prefers "hotel or tourist village" (44%) even if, an equally significant 35.8%, also due to the modified tourist consumption linked to the pandemic emergency, goes in search of a "taken home. for rent "(19.3%) or" a house owned by the family "(9.2%) or, finally," guest of relatives and friends "(7.3%). Finally, to experience a safe holiday, it indicates two priorities: to ensure compliance with the rules of social distancing and green pass.
