(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 15 - The summer forest fire campaign opens today which will be able to count on 30 aircraft, of which 23 from the Fire Brigade (15 Canadair, 5 EricksonS64F helicopters and other 3 AB-412) and 7 from the Defense ( 5 helicopters of the Armed Forces and 2 helicopters of the Carabinieri). This was communicated by the Civil Protection.
The annual recommendations of the Prime Minister, notes the Department, underline that "forest fires will continue to characterize our country regardless of the concomitant pandemic emergency. It is therefore advisable to prepare in time all the necessary actions to avoid the efforts made by the forest fire prevention system in our country in recent times. years".
As part of the European project 'RescEU-IT', two Canadians located on the Italian territory, if not employed for national needs, will be activated, at the request of Brussels, in one of the other countries of the Union that should find themselves in critical situations. The project provides additional resources to support countries committed to responding to major disasters, even outside the European Union.
The use of the national fleet will, as always, be coordinated by the Unified Air Operations Center (Coau) of the Civil Protection Department. (HANDLE).
