Certain ingredients with an excessive "ethylene oxide content" led to the withdrawal from the market of several brands of ice cream

Bad news when the weather is fine.

Many big brand and private label ice creams, but also many other products such as cookies, couscous or even pasta have been withdrawn from sale and are affected by a recall procedure, according to the management file. general competition and fraud repression.

According to the DGCCRF, some ingredients of these products have an "ethylene oxide content exceeding the limits authorized by European regulations", according to the official website RecallConso.

This pesticide is banned for use in Europe but can be tolerated at low doses in some imported products.

"The French health authorities were informed at the beginning of September (...) of the presence of a chemical product, ethylene oxide, at a content higher than the regulatory maximum limit in certain batches of imported sesame seeds", explains the DGCCRF.

Investigations have been launched and, pending these results, a list of recalled products is regularly updated.
