According to the DGCCRF, some ingredients of these products have an "ethylene oxide content exceeding the limits authorized by European regulations", according to the official website RecallConso.
This pesticide is banned for use in Europe but can be tolerated at low doses in some imported products.
"The French health authorities were informed at the beginning of September (...) of the presence of a chemical product, ethylene oxide, at a content higher than the regulatory maximum limit in certain batches of imported sesame seeds", explains the DGCCRF.
Investigations have been launched and, pending these results, a list of recalled products is regularly updated.
More than 7,000 references corresponding to hundreds of products are now concerned.
