Within the axis of human and community sciences and the arts, representatives of the ministries of Social Affairs, Labor, Education and Culture, and the Syrian Trust for Development, reviewed on the third day of the Damascus University Scientific Research Workshop for the year 2021 the most prominent practical and practical problems facing their sectors and ways to address them through scientific research.

The research axes in the field of social affairs and labor focused on social security systems, allowing the financial sustainability of social security and social insurance institutions, the impact of occupational health and safety programs in reducing work injuries and occupational diseases, the impact of wars and crises on the financial position of social insurance, solutions to the issue of beggary and the needs of people with disabilities under the circumstances. The current economic means, the means of supporting the woman breadwinner, the causes and means of domestic violence, the effectiveness of the labor market center in meeting job needs and combating unemployment, and the impact of unilateral economic measures on charitable work.

In the cultural field, the participants stressed the necessity of applying critical theories to literature and art, integrating literature and art, using visual arts in social awareness and mitigating the negative effects of the crisis, as well as addressing social and economic history and the various roles of the media and the arts in strengthening national, social and moral values, modern teaching strategies and methods, and integrating technology in Education, technologies, identity preservation, language, archeology, tangible and intangible heritage, environment and sustainability.

In the educational field, the participants reviewed a number of problems that were monitored by school students, which are represented in not completing school duties, poor academic achievement, academic delay in one subject, poor time management, wrong study habits, weak motivation to learn, forgetting books and school tools, dropping out of school, and not following the rules and laws in the school. smoking and other behavioral and social problems.

The participants suggested the necessity of networking with the concerned authorities to reduce and solve these problems and to provide the Ministry of Education with qualified and professionally trained scientific research cadres.

The proposals of the Syrian Trust for Development focused on cooperation with the University of Damascus on the need to study the principles of research and documentation in accordance with international standards, the role of non-governmental organizations in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in Syria, the role of audio-visual documents in enhancing collective memory and cultural heritage, and studying the legislative structure for managing intangible cultural heritage In syria.

Dr. Ghaith Raqouzak, director of scientific research at Damascus University, pointed out, in a statement to SANA, to work on developing an executive matrix for the research axes presented to activate and apply them on the ground during the coming period.

The Damascus University workshop for scientific research for the year 2021 was launched yesterday and will conclude next Thursday, with the participation of more than 1,500 researchers and students in the postgraduate studies, under the title “Towards Participatory Applied Research,” accompanied by an exhibition of completed scientific research.
