Wednesday June 16, five days before the music festival, the Maison de la Radio in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, will host a giant concert with both rock with Jean-Louis Aubert, urban music with Youssoupha and classical music with the Orchester National de France, one of the two formations of the Radio France group.

On this occasion, the famous round house will be officially renamed the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique.

"A way of paying tribute to all the musicians who have suffered from the pandemic" explains Sibyle Veil, president of Radio France.

For its president, the public group Radio France, with its 40 million listeners, must assume a role of discovery of new artists, of support throughout their careers and of defense of the diversity of musical expressions.

During the confinement, when the artists were deprived of concert, Radio France multiplied the confined concerts and increased the share of music on its antennas.

As a result,

“Radio France donated € 1 million more in copyright to artists during this period,”

explains Sibyle Veil.

The various branches like France Inter and FIP, play their role of discoverers of young artists like Clara Luciani, Eddy de Pretto or Pomme. Each year, FIP plays 40,000 different artists and France Inter 11,000.

“The rise of audio streaming services is changing the model. Artists find it harder to emerge and their careers are shorter. On the contrary, our branches support young people over the long term, ”

adds the president.

The Radio France group which has two classical orchestras;

the philharmonic orchestra and the national orchestra of France, never stopped the concerts.

If the latter were private, they were broadcast on the antenna of France Musique.

And by inventing symphonic concerts, mixing pop artists and classical music such as M's concert with the philharmonic, Radio France wanted to broaden the audience for classical music.

Since its renovation, the Round House has had several concert halls such as the Auditorium with a capacity of 1,500 seats, Studio 104 with its 800 seats, as well as studios 105, 106 and 101.

“When the renovation is completed, none no other place will be able to offer as many concerts as the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique ”

concludes Sibyle Veil.
