The following
types of wood are
used
for the dead
wood
pile:
Branches
Branches
Pieces of root
if necessary, filler material such as dry leaves or dry moss
But
tools
are also needed:
Gloves

Pile of dead wood in the garden - choice of location
If you want to create a pile of dead wood without a pit, you can plan up to two hours for this, depending on the size. Otherwise it may of course take more time. Before starting work, the ideal location should of course first be selected. You should make sure that this is
not in a depression or hollow
. This can be explained by the fact that water can collect there, which could be dangerous for the animals. You should also think in advance which animals you would like to house there. The appropriate location is selected accordingly.
But the
microclimate
is more
decisive than the
shade or the sun
.
Lizards and snakes, for example, like to live wet and shady.
Other animals prefer the sun for this.

Pile of dead wood in the garden - this is how you proceed
If you have the opportunity in your garden, you can create a pile of dead wood with a pit.
However, it is important to know that the pit is with
hard wood and coarse branches.
Leaves and moss can also be selected as filling quantities.
But even without a pit, a species-rich habitat can be created.
The selected
branches and root pieces
are
stacked on top of each other
so
that they are stable.
After all, the heap shouldn't collapse right away.
Little by little, new residents will move into the pile of dead wood and find a new home there.
