Sister Marina

, the nun accused of sexually abusing an adolescent within the home of the religious community of the Trinitarian Sisters of Boulogne, will

continue to be detained

in the Alcaidía N ° 3 of La Plata.

The decision was made by the head of the Court of Guarantees No. 3 of San Isidro, Andrea Rodríguez Mentasty, who

denied the request for release

presented by the defense of María Tellez Fajardo, according to

Clarín

from sources in the case.

The 64-year-old Colombian nun was arrested on June 9 at the San Miguel headquarters owned by the religious community of the

Trinitarian Sisters

She is accused of abusing a girl who was 14 years old and

was in custody

of the Family Justice at home.

The attacks would have occurred during 2020 and 2021 in the kitchen of the Boulogne headquarters.

In his investigation, he said that he could have "accidentally touched" the complainant.

According to Judge Rodríguez Mentasty in the resolution, releasing the accused

implies a risk

for the investigation, since it can hinder the collection of evidence due to the

influence

that the religious order has on possible witnesses.

In the ruling, the magistrate considered that the crime charged to the nun

is not "seriously outrageous"

, as described by the prosecutor in the case, Marcelo Fuenzalida, of the Gender UFI of San Isidro,

Sister Marina is 64 years old and Colombian.

Thus, Sister Marina was detained for the crime of "simple sexual abuse aggravated by having been committed by

a person of the religious cult

, taking advantage of the

pre-existing

coexistence

situation

, her relationship of

authority

and that the victim could not

freely consent to

said action."

"The circumstance

of the victim's

condition of vulnerability takes

on

special relevance

, who was under a shelter measure ordered by the Family Law, an extreme that translates the conduct investigated into a

greater criminal reproach

, "the magistrate warned in the ruling.

Thus, according to the sources consulted, Sister Marina would face a penalty of

3 to 10 years in prison

.

"To this is added that it can hinder the investigation and that the suspicion that there

may be more victims,

" explained the sources, the reasons for the decision to keep the nun imprisoned.
