In the trial for the abuse of three girls, a former police officer at the Düsseldorf Regional Court largely admitted the allegations.
The 63-year-old accused had "mostly confessed" when the trial began on Monday, a spokeswoman for the regional court said on Tuesday.
The »WAZ« had previously reported on the confession.
After the indictment was read, the public was excluded.
Witnesses were not heard on Monday, but photos were inspected.
The public prosecutor's office accuses the defendant of 14 child abuse and rape.
He is said to have committed the deeds over a period of 13 years in an allotment garden in Düsseldorf.
In addition, more than 1,000 images of serious child sexual abuse were found when his apartment was searched, the prosecution said.
The pensioner has been in custody since January.
The alleged victims are now 14, 22 and 25 years old.
The trial is scheduled to continue on June 30th.
