The kickoff of the 2021 bac is tomorrow! After a year of schooling disrupted by the health crisis, the students of the general path of

It is a ritual that the students had escaped last year: the face-to-face baccalaureate exams will take place in 2021. Disrupted in their schooling by the coronavirus crisis, the candidates will be working on a new generation bac this year.

With the watchword, "benevolence".

The high school unions, however, demanded a continuous full control, without result.

Only the March specialty events, which were to be inaugurated, have been canceled.

On the other hand, those of June are maintained.

They began this Wednesday for the professional baccalaureate and will start Thursday with the philosophy and the anticipated French exams for the general and technological baccalaureate.

But what will this new edition look like?

We take stock.

What are the exam dates?

For final year students of the general and technological path, the written philosophy test will be held on Thursday, June 17 in the morning and the grand oral from Monday, June 21 to Friday, July 2.

For first year students, the anticipated French exams will take place on Thursday June 17 in the afternoon for the written word and from Monday June 21 to Friday July 2 for the oral.

The written exams for the professional baccalaureate are held on Wednesday June 16 (French, history-geography and moral and civic education), June 17 (prevention, health and environment, economics-law and economics-management) and June 18 (applied arts and artistic cultures).

The results will be known on Tuesday July 6.

What health precautions will be taken during the course of the tests?

With 715,006 candidates called, or 384,083 for the general baccalaureate, 189,246 for the vocational baccalaureate and 141,677 for the technological baccalaureate, barrier gestures are required when passing the tests.

A distance of two meters must be respected between the students.

Wearing a mask will be compulsory for everyone, including during the grand oral.

In the event of refusal, access to the examination premises will be refused.

Masks will be distributed to those who do not have them and candidates will run their hands with hydroalcoholic gel at each entry and exit.

What is the share of continuous monitoring?

For the candidates, the hard work has already been done.

Continuous assessment was initially supposed to represent 40% of the final exam mark, but in the absence of specialty tests, its share will reach 82%.

The written philosophy test and the grand oral test correspond to the remaining 18%.

The grade of the continuous assessment will be "the average of the quarterly averages", explained Edouard Geffray, director general of school education, during a press conference.

It will be rounded to the nearest tenth of a point.

“If my average is 12.17, the machine rounds it off to 12.2,” he illustrated.

Have face-to-face tests been reduced?

The writing of philosophy of the terminales will comprise this time four subjects instead of three: a subject of explanation of philosophical text and three subjects of dissertation, against two usually

.

Above all, at the end of the 4-hour test

,

the pupils will keep the best mark between that of the final test and that of the annual average obtained within the framework of the continuous assessment.

Pupils who do not present themselves without a valid reason will be assigned a 0, while a blank copy will suffice for the grade for the continuous assessment to be retained.

Contrary to philosophy, first year students will not be able to count on continuous assessment.

The number

of texts to be studied for the anticipated written test in French, on the other hand, was reduced to 14 instead of 20 for the general route, and 7 instead of 12 for the technological route.

During the exam, the number of subjects submitted to the students will also be doubled to reach two sets of three essay subjects and two general comments, against two comments and two contractions of texts, each followed by an essay for the route. technological.

Orally, the pupils of the two tracks will be able to opt for one of the two texts selected by the examiner, to favor the one they will have more particularly worked on during the year.

In addition, program points that could not be addressed during the year will be known to the examiners.

What about the grand oral in the final year?

The first edition of the grand oral, a test inherited from the grandes écoles which will count for 10% of the final mark for the general route and 14% for the technological route, is causing great concern. But "it will not consist of a knowledge test, but aims to assess the capacity for argumentation", reassures the director general of school education. The candidate will present two questions to the jury, which will choose one. He will then have 20 minutes to prepare. In order to reassure the students who wipe the casts, several relaxations have been planned. During the first part of the test, which consists of a five-minute presentation, each candidate can keep their draft in front of them. During the second part, a 10-minute interview, he can rely on a visual medium, such as a table,to illustrate or make explicit his remarks, by posing an equation or by drawing a map for example.

And for the professional bac?

The tests for the general teaching of the vocational baccalaureate started on Wednesday.

And here too, the ministry relaxed the rules.

For writings in French, history-geography, economics, law, economics-management and PSE (prevention, health and environment at work), only the two best grades will be retained for the award of the diploma.

How will the take-up oral exams take place?

Candidates for the general and technological baccalaureate, whose marks are between 8 and 9.9, will be able to take the catch-up oral exams, from Wednesday 7 to Friday 9 July. They will choose a maximum of two courses to review, among French philosophy, the grand oral or specialty courses.

"

There will be no trick questions

,

"

we promise the ministry. For the vocational baccalaureate, the remedial exams (called “control”) will take place on the same dates and will focus on two questions in the program, to be dealt with in 15 minutes orally.
