Saxony: Truck driver notices refugees by knocking noises

Four underage migrants probably got into a truck trailer in Romania; the driver only discovered them shortly before Leipzig. Now the police are investigating the man - and his stowaways.

By knocking noises, a truck driver became aware of four underage refugees from Afghanistan in the loading area of ​​his trailer.

He noticed her at a rest stop on Autobahn 14 in Saxony.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening.

When he heard the noises, the driver first switched on the video camera in his semitrailer.

Four people then waved to him over the camera.

The alerted police officers found a "properly sealed" trailer on site.

Inside the trailer were four Afghan boys aged 15 to 17, according to police.

Young people may have got into the truck in Romania

According to the current state of knowledge, they apparently gained access to the loading area two days beforehand.

According to the current state of investigation, they probably ended up in the trailer in Romania.

None of them had been able to identify themselves or had a residence permit.

The police started investigations against the truck driver for "smuggling in foreigners" and against the four youths for illegal entry or illegal residence.
