Sardinia is the queen of the sea for this summer.

In fact, the island receives the highest number of sails in the classification of the 'Most beautiful sea' guide by Legambiente and Touring club, presented today during an online event.

But important awards also go to Tuscany, Puglia, Campania and Sicily.

Among the 45 bathing areas collected in the guide - explains Legambiente - there are places famous all over the world such as the Cinque Terre or the Amalfi coast. Overall there are 98 tourist areas classified by Legambiente and the Italian Touring Club and evaluated on the basis of data on the management of services by local administrations and the quality of the territory. The judgment attributed to each district ranges from the five sails assigned to the best ones up to one sail for the territories that still reach the sufficiency of the votes. The parameters are divided into two main categories: environmental quality and quality of hospitality services. Specific attention was also given to sustainable and ecological activities.

"The twenty-first edition of this guide is a promise of well-being and happy abandonment to nature - says Franco Iseppi, president of the Italian Touring club - not a ranking, but a geographical mapping that photographs the exceptional riches of the Italian seas and lakes and indicates the good environmental, administrative and tourist practices that help to preserve them and make them known ".

"The locations at the top of our ranking - declares Sebastiano Venneri, Legambiente's Head of Tourism - are those that will have the best chance of overcoming the challenges of the future, that is, those able to best combine environmental issues with economic development prospects".

There is also a section of the guide dedicated to lake tourism locations: in this case Trentino-Alto Adige is the first region in terms of number of districts with three lakes out of six with five sails: Molveno lake, Fiè lake. and that of Monticolo.

A focus then on the accessibility and sustainability of bathing establishments by selecting the best experiences.
