The government "is working" on a reopening "this summer" of nightclubs ensures this Thursday the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, on RMC and BFMTV.

They have been in complete shutdown for 15 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Alain Griset, the Minister Delegate in charge of small businesses, continues to work with discotheques, we are also working for a health protocol", he declared, adding that "we are working to reopen them this summer".

"From June 21 we will know more," he said, confirming the appointment given by President Emmanuel Macron to professionals in the sector.

“In July, the discotheques are brought to reopen with specific conditions.

This work aims to define the conditions under which these establishments will again be able to welcome the public, underlined Olivier Véran.

"Does it go through an exceptional health pass, that is to say that it would be required for less than 1000 people, it is a possibility and I said it myself, I think that does it make sense to do it?

Are there any ventilation systems required?

This is all that we are in the process of refining, ”explained Olivier Véran.

The two main professional unions in the sector, Umih and GNI, indicated last week that they were negotiating with the government for the reopening of establishments on June 30, and agreed that the health pass is required at the entrance, while also asking for the possibility that customers can enter after having performed a self-test on site. According to professionals, the protocol should also include obligations regarding ventilation and wearing a mask.
