"Metroid Dread" lets protagonist Samus explore the game world again in 2D.
When will the game be released on the Nintendo Switch?
With "Metroid Dread" comes the first 2D game in the series for 19 years.
The plot of the new part is based on the events of the 2002 Game Boy Advance title "Metroid Fusion" and is intended to close the five-part saga of the bounty hunter Samus Aran.
The game was announced at E3.
"Metroid Dread" will be
released on October 8th

The first trailers show that the game will be a mixture of modern gameplay and the classic "Metroid".

The unveiling trailer for
“Metroid Dread”
shows Samus Aran in a new white and red suit as she explores the previously unknown world of the planet ZDR.
Although everything is rendered in 3D, everything takes place
in the classic side-scrolling perspective
, similar to "Metroid: Samus Returns".

The trailer features a number of new adversaries, but the most disturbing adversary is a robot called
"EMMI"
. This is completely unimpressed by Samus' attacks. The protagonist has no choice but to run away or hide with the help of a
new camouflage ability
. The trailer also shows some new moves, including rapid jumps, climbing magnetized walls, and free aiming and parrying. Players will acquire new skills and equipment in the course of the game and can
return to areas that have already been explored
in classic "Metroid" fashion
in order to find new locations or hidden upgrades.
