Clashes broke out again on Thursday at the partially occupied house at Rigaer Strasse 94 in Berlin-Friedrichshain.

For a planned fire protection test, the police used heavy equipment to gain access to the barricaded house.

As a result, residents set Bengalos and firecrackers on fire.

The residents had previously offered to let the fire safety inspector into the building without police escort.

However, the examiner refused and insisted on protection from the officials.

Thilo Cablitz, police spokesman

“There are acts of resistance.

In the beginning it was emptying fire extinguishers in this narrow passage, which led to respiratory irritation in eight colleagues, then pyrotechnics were also ignited, even in these narrow rooms, so that 13 other colleagues now have a blast trauma.

We hope that no more colleagues will be injured, but, as I said, we have to continue to work our way through the building bit by bit. "

According to their own statements, the police are on site with a total of around 400 workers.

Roads are largely blocked.

In the vicinity of the »Rigaer 94«, the school and daycare center were closed on Thursday, as was the district office.

According to the police, around 60 officers had been injured during their on-site operation the day before.

After an urgent application by residents against the inspection had legally failed, they announced resistance.

For years there has been a dispute over the house, which has been occupied since 1990 and is considered a meeting place for the left-wing extremist scene.
