SNCF: Discover the new Advantage Card to take the train at reduced prices

2021-06-21T03:25:47.254Z

Faced with changing passenger habits, SNCF is thoroughly reviewing its fare offer to make it simpler and more accessible

For a long time, the SNCF offered multiple subscription cards designed to adapt to travelers: Advantage Jeune, Avantage Week-End, Avantage Senior, Avantage Famille ... a very wide choice and multiple proposals, although always quite similar: the goal, always the same, was to save on train ticket prices, to travel more, and therefore travel better. From June 17, the SNCF will offer a new generation advantage card, even more generous with accessible prices. The Advantage card is aimed at three traveler profiles: young people from 12 to 27 years old, adults from 28 to 59 years old, and seniors over 60 years old. To summarize simply, everyone can benefit from its assets, for

49 euros per year

. But what are we talking about?

The Advantage Card: fixed and affordable prices

The new SNCF card is intended to be more readable: its offer is clear, and focuses on locked prices depending on the length of the journey to be made, even if the ticket is purchased at the last minute.

Thus, a short trip of less than 1.5 hours costs 39 euros max, an intermediate trip between 1:30 and 3 hours costs 59 euros max, while a long trip of more than 3 hours costs 79 euros max.

In addition to these adult fares, there are those for children likely to accompany card holders: 60% reduction is applied to children's tickets, up to a limit of three per holder of the Advantage card.

Thus, ticket prices are modeled on the same travel time scheme as for adults, and are 19, 29 and 39 euros at most.

A more interesting proposal from the SNCF

It is easy to make the comparison with the proposal of the old Avantage Famille card and the new Avantage card, for a family with two adults and two children making a return trip between Paris and Rennes.

Previously, each adult paid 63 euros per trip, or 252 euros in total, and each child paid 36 euros per trip, or 144 euros in total.

In the end, the train trip cost 396 euros for the family.

With the new Avantage card, each adult pays 39 euros per trip, or 156 euros for the two round trips, and children pay 19 euros per ticket, or 76 euros.

In total, we arrive at a sum of 232 euros: this represents 164 euros of difference, or 40% savings with the new card, which is thus reimbursed for both parents from the first family trip.

How does the Advantage card work?

The new SNCF Advantage card works like all the previous ones: when you buy your TGV INOUI tickets at the station or on the SNCF distributor sites, you just need to specify that you are the card holder so that the discounted fares are valid. 'display.

You just have to buy your tickets taking advantage of these advantages.

When traveling by train, remember to bring your Advantage card, which will be requested by the controller to validate your right to the discount.

And There you go !

You can acquire the Avantage card from June 17 and prepare your TGV INOUI journeys for the summer:

until August 29, 2021, all tickets are 100% refundable up to three days before departure.

Something to calm your mind!
