Space: committee meeting, hypothesis national day 16/12

The inter-ministerial committee for policies relating to space and aerospace research met today in the Sala Verde of Palazzo Chigi. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 17 - The Interministerial Committee for Space and Aerospace Research Policies met today in the Sala Verde of Palazzo Chigi.

As reported in a note, it was the first meeting of the Committee since the inauguration of President Mario Draghi, under the chairmanship of Undersecretary Bruno Tabacci.

Among the issues addressed the possible establishment of a National Space Day which this year could take place as early as 16 December.


    "The opinion of the Committee was acquired regarding the establishment of a National Space Day aimed at promoting citizenship awareness of space activities, which goes beyond spectacular exploration activities and which emphasizes the pervasiveness in daily life of services generated in space and returns that the sector offers in terms of economic growth, technology and international prestige of the country. The day identified should hopefully be in December to connect it to the launch, in 1964, of the first Italian satellite 'San Marco', with the hypothesis of 16 December 2021 as the first effective date ", he explains.


    During the meeting, the new military adviser to the Prime Minister, General Luigi Francesco De Leverano, was appointed as secretary and the new operating regulations of the committee aimed at making its coordination action more effective were approved.
