(ANSA) - BOLOGNA, 17 JUN - The 44 thousand volumes of Umberto Eco have finally found a home: a wing of the University Library of Bologna in via Zamboni will host, in fact, the immense book collection of the professor who died in 2016 and for many years the column of the University of Bologna.

The leaders of the Alma Mater, together with Eco's children, Stefano and Carlotta, have in fact presented the project that will have two paths: a virtual one, which will underline every annotation, underlining and comment by Eco, a physical one that will be born, in fact, in a wing of the University Library that overlooks Piazza Puntoni and where the books will be arranged in the exact same order in which Eco had arranged them at his house.

Once completed (it is assumed in the spring / summer of next year) it will be a fascinating journey into the working method and mental order of one of the most translated Italian intellectual writers in the world.

In the following years, the paper archive of Umberto Eco will also arrive in Bologna, while the collection of ancient books (about 1,200 volumes including incunabula, aldine and first editions) were sold to the Braidense library in Milan which will make them available by digitizing them.
