(ANSA) - NEW YORK, JUN 17 - The race for mayor of New York remains open one week after the vote. The eight aspirants to replace Bill de Blasio clashed in the fourth television debate and none of them managed to assert themselves and take it in a hurry.
Eric Adams, the Brooklyn president, is leading the polls but has not shone in the debate. He has clashed repeatedly with Andrew Yang, the former candidate for the White House who until a few weeks ago was undermining him but is now in decline.
Kathryn Garcia and Maya Wiley tried to assert themselves by taking advantage of their experience and the possibility of making a difference with the first female mayor of the city. At the center of the debate was the safety of the city but also its relaunch.
De Blasio has so far not supported any candidate and it is not clear whether he will do so before the vote on 22 June. Many of the candidates have expressly said that they do not want the support of the current mayor, who is much criticized by the citizens. (HANDLE).
