(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 18 - The ECB has decided to extend the easing on the leverage ratio for banks until March 2022, a measure launched to guarantee credit to the economy during the pandemic emergency and which should have expired on 27 June. This was announced by the ECB recognizing the persistence of "exceptional circumstances" due to the pandemic. The facility - decided on 17 September last - allows banks to continue to exclude deposits at Eurosystem central banks, ie reserves, from the calculation of the leverage ratio in order to help banks aerogate credit to households and businesses.
