(ANSA) - LONDON, JUN 18 - The rebound of Covid infections fueled by the Delta (formerly Indian) variant in the United Kingdom accelerates: this is confirmed by the data of Public Health England (Phe) according to which in the last week there were almost 76,000 estimated cases , concentrated in England and Scotland, where they now represent 99% of the total, with an increase of 79% compared to the previous 7 days. An updated study of the same Phe also brings to 75% the average efficacy of existing vaccines (similar for Pfizer and AstraZeneca) against hospitalizations after just one dose: without distinction between contagions from Delta or Alpha variant (formerly English).
