They want students to be able to completely abandon the mask at school.
Doctors from the French Pediatric Society are asking that children can be exempted from wearing the mask, including indoors, due to improving figures for the Covid-19 pandemic in France.
Since Thursday, elementary school students can already remove it in the playground.
More generally, the mask is no longer mandatory since Thursday in the public space in France.
There are some exceptions to this new rule, such as groupings of people or stadiums for example.

In a press release, the French Pediatric Society believes that it is "time to make our children smile".
"In October 2020, while the viral circulation intensified, it seemed important to us to support the installation of masks from 6 years old", but "the health situation no longer justifies it", she argues.
“Our Belgian and English neighbors have already ruled several weeks ago in this direction since children do not wear masks in primary school.
Doctors also highlight the fact that with "high heat" the "painfulness of this measure (...) should be spared" to young children. They also insist on the possibility of ending the school year with a “positive message” after primary school students “have suffered the indirect effects
(of the pandemic)
on their mental health”.
